  4. Microorganisms: distribution and symbiotic relations in aquatic ecosystems
  5. Transport of natural and anthropogenic substances in atmosphere and on the interface water-air
  6. Hydrophysics and hydrochemistry of deep water bodies; biogeochemistry of benthic communities
  7. Lacustrine, marine and glacial high-resolution records of paleoclimates
  8. Deepwater studies

The 16th Joint Seminar on Regional Deposition processes in the Atmosphere will be held within the framework of the V Vereshchagin Baikal Conference.

It is planned to organize International Scientific School on “Ecology of Large Water Bodies and Their Basins”, for young students, postgraduates and researchers with the participation of leading scientists.

Proceedings in “Limnology and Oceanography”

The Proceeding volume of the Conference will be published in a Special Issue of “Limnology and Oceanography”. The publication is charged. The Local Steering Committee decided to cover 50% of publication costs of each selected paper. Full articles in English (a CD version) prepared according to the instructions to the authors in “L & O” http://www.aslo.org/lo/instructions/authors.html. have to be submitted to the Organizing Committed of the Conference on October 4, 2010.

Participants from outside Russia are requested to pay the conference fee by cash at the registration desk at the beginning of the conference. According to the decision of the Local Steering Committee, the participation of students and postgraduates at the Conference is free of charge.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR STUDENTS AND POSTGRADUATES Students and postgraduates are invited to take part in the competition for financial support. The Local Steering Committee makes efforts to partly cover travel and accommodation expenses. Application forms for financial support (download the form at http://lin.irk.ru/5vbc) should be sent before June 30, 2010 (the deadline is extended) to conference@lin.irk.ru Those who are rendered this support will be informed before July 9, 2010.
Competition for best presentations by young researchers
Competition for best presentations will be held within the framework of the International Scientific School on “Ecology of Large Water Bodies and Their Basins” among young researchers under 35 years. Three prizes will be awarded for the best oral talk and best poster. The winners will be awarded with a money prize. Details are at http://lin.irk.ru/5vbc

Accommodation and meeting of the participants
Single and double rooms have been reserved for the participants of the Conference in Hotel “Akademicheskaya”. The cost of a single room is 1620-1840 rubles and a double room 1940-2920 rubles, including breakfast (telephone +7(3952) 42-78-72).
The participants will be met at the airport or at the railway station from 9 p.m. till 9 a.m. The participants are asked to inform of a flight number or train number and the date and time of the arrival in advance.

Excursions
The participants of the Conference are offered the following options of excursions:
  1. City tour and visit to the Local History Museum (included into the registration fee).
  2. Museum of Wooden Architecture “Taltsy” – October 3, 2010 (150 rubles per person). www.talci.ru

  4. Boat trip at Lake Baikal and visit to the Biological Station (the coast of Lake Baikal), lunch at the Station – October 9, 2010 (600 rubles).
